About SSFS: Studio Movie Grill hosts Shared Stories Film Series, films dedicated to educate, enlighten and inspire. This series showcases filmmakers and non-profits raising awareness of issues impacting women through film, guest speakers, workshops, and panel discussions. Many of our films will have proceeds donated to the non-profit co-presenting. About ESCALATION: The Escalation Workshop is a powerful, emotionally-engaging 90-minute film-based workshop that educates groups about relationship violence and empowerment for change. The film introduces us to Paige and Chase, a college-aged couple whose relationship starts exciting and fun but ends in tragedy. The film enables students to understand the more nuanced signs of relationship abuse as well as how important it is for friends to step in if they see these behaviors. Following the film, the audience breaks into small discussion groups led by One Love trained facilitators to discuss key scenes from the film. Groups talk about the warning signs, actions that could have been taken, and how the film relates to their own lives. The Escalation workshop educates audiences and creates a safe zone for discussing an all-too-common problem. The workshop is consistently cited as “relatable” and “eye-opening” by students. Over 100,000 students have seen Escalation at over 1,800 unique workshops. ***TRIGGER WARNING: The 40-minute film depicts examples of relationship abuse including sexual, physical, and emotional abuse. This is a very heavy film and can be difficult to watch, even if you have not been in a similar situation. We recommend the film for individuals in high school and above. We will have resources on site available to anyone who may need them. Presented in association with the One Love Foundation. All ticket proceeds to benefit the One Love Foundation.
