On March 21, following a Big Thought special screening, facilitator Lisa Schmidt was surprised with the news that she will be SMG's 2018 Opening Hearts and Minds Award recipient. The Opening Hearts and Minds Award is presented to people who go above and beyond to create a positive wake in their community.
Lisa Schmidt founded and is project director of Creative Solutions, a Big Thought partnership with the Dallas County Juvenile Department and Southern Methodist University. The program provides job and life skills training for teens and disadvantaged adults. Studio Movie Grill works with Schmidt and Big Thought to host and sponsor impactful screenings to support those programs with films like Wonder Woman and A Wrinkle In Time.
Opening Hearts and Minds, One Story at a Time™
Schmidt will be honored at the third annual award presentation on June 14 at SMG Northwest Highway. In addition to a program celebrating Schmidt’s 30 years as an impactful educator and her tireless work with Big Thought to further social-emotional learning with children and adults, the event will feature a red carpet, celebrity appearances, and a special screening of a highly anticipated film.
