EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW: PET SEMATARY
AUSTIN, TEXAS: MARCH 2019
There’s a lot going for Pet Sematary. Last year’s IT reminded us of the greatness of Stephen King’s content, and how far the genre of horror has come, and is trending lately. From the trailers alone, we can see just how much the visual effects and makeup of today will add to the gruesome and chilling imagery of this twisted story. However, Pet Sematary differs from IT in that we’re not quite sure there will be a lonely bright streak of warmth running through it, in the form of lessons about friendship and teamwork. Instead we get reanimated, decomposing corpses and cursed burial grounds, with lessons about only death. Pet Sematary is a dark, cynical, slightly campy, morbid tale, through and through. And we horror freaks are into it.
We sat down with the cast at SXSW to really dig in to what makes a true horror story.
