VALLEY ACHIEVEMENT CENTER
STORY NO. 16

As part of our continued mission to be a platform to Open Hearts and Minds, we invited the storytellers in our communities to help us shine a light on the people and organizations that make a positive impact on their communities every day. From the submissions, we chose four of the most inspiring stories as the winners of our One Story Movement® contest — this is Valley Achievement Center's story.
OPENING HEARTS AND MINDS, ONE STORY AT A TIME®
At Valley Achievement Center (VAC), our mission is to help anyone who is on the autism spectrum or suffers from other developmental disabilities achieve their highest quality of life. We do that by providing supportive services. We offer a variety of programs including independent living skills, day programs, vocational training, job placement, and on-the-job training and coaching. We are also a non-profit organization that relies heavily on the support of our awesome community in Bakersfield, California. At VAC, we want to be known as the one stop shop for anyone with a developmental disability.
